North Chesterman may look good on paper but the action's at South when you see the real thing. So, use the forecasts as guides but trust your intuition, it's right more often than you give it credit for.

Friday January 27 Tofino Surf
Big waves today. You'll find three stars at South Chesterman Beach all day with a bit of wind over noon. But... over at North Chesterman and Cox Bay there are five star surf conditions all day long. Long Beach rocks five star surf with a touch of wind blowing in at noon. Enjoy and be sure to watch the waves for awhile before heading in.

Windy surf today at South Chesterman Beach.Two star surf conditions at North Chesterman and Cox Bay today with wind: conditions slow down over noon so take a break for a nice long lunch. Long Beach is having an interesting day too with three stars til 11am, then two over noon then back to three stars around 3pm.

Sunday January 29 Tofino Surf
Big waves and wind and five star surf starts at noon, but it comes with wind until 3pm when it's pure five stars, so hang out and coffee up until the afternoon and start surfing. Its the opposite at North Chesterman and Cox Bay with five star surf conditions in the morning until 12:30 when the wind hits with a force, so get out early at those beaches. Long Beach shows its best with five stars from 9am to noon, when a star falls off and the wind blows in getting progressively windier as the afternoon rolls along.

About Tofino Surfing Beaches: North -> South
MacKenzie Beach - Rarely has surf but sometimes some small waves can roll in - usually in the winter
North Chesterman Beach - Good surf depending
on wind, really picks up in winter.
Also known as North Chestie or North C.
South Chesterman Beach - Good surf depending
on wind, popular hang out spot. Fun spot for families too.
Also known as South Chestie or South C.
Cox Bay Beach - Stronger surf than other beaches
in summer and often in winter too. Bigger, harder waves.
The North end is where you'll find the experienced surfers tricking out on the waves.
There's also a middle section where beginners can ride the white water and get their first surf rush.
Cox bay includes the Cox Rocks (North section) and Cox Sauce (Mid beach) areas.
Long Beach - Lots of space and good waves, fun for everyone. Need a vehicle. In the Pacific Rim National Park.
Wickanninish Beach - Can be good surf here, ask locals advice cause can be big and rippy.
